Joey Shannon
Head of Renewables Development
Joey Shannon serves as Director, Development, with a focus on site evaluation, land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and project management for Cumulus Coin. In addition to his efforts with the Coin business, Joey leads development for Cumulus Renewables’ emerging portfolio of solar and wind projects nationwide.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Shannon was Development Manager at Calpine Corporation, where he led renewable energy development for the company’s efforts in ERCOT and SPP, totaling over 900 MW. Prior to his time at Calpine, Mr. Shannon served in various development and asset management roles with Clearway Energy Group and its predecessor NRG Renew. Joey was initially selected for NRG’s Leadership Development Rotational Program, completing a 2-year management training program.
Before entering the renewable energy industry, Joey was a Mechanical Systems Engineer for Southern Nuclear (Southern Company) at the Vogtle Electric Generating Station.
Mr. Shannon received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Goizueta Business School, Emory University.
